At the Biblioteca Nazionale in Turin, the Early Manuscripts Electronic Library used MegaVision’s cooled 150 MP Q15 camera to investigate reused manuscript fragments and pages damaged by fire and historical chemical treatments. Multispectral imaging supported the examination of text difficult to read under ordinary light.
At the Royal Library of Denmark in Copenhagen, MegaVision’s permanently installed spectral imaging system and is used to document among other objects, a collection of Hans Christian Andersen’s paper cuttings.

At the University of Rochester, MegaVision’s Ken Boydston joined the Lazarus Project to develop an imaging system for fragile books that cannot be opened flat. Combining Scheimpflug photography, multispectral capture, and geometric correction, the method supports digital access while protecting the books’ bindings.
When paper and ink ran short, David Livingstone continued writing on newspapers and other available materials. More than a century later, MegaVision multispectral imaging helped researchers distinguish his faded handwriting from the printed text beneath it, opening these documents to renewed examination.
Claude Monet’s Villas at Bordighera connects an Italian landscape study with a larger composition later painted in Giverny. MegaVision’s project at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art included imaging of this work, bringing a technical perspective to its examination.
Faded writing and damaged parchment can conceal centuries of historical evidence. In Vercelli, the Lazarus Project used MegaVision imaging technology to document an early Gospel manuscript and examine a medieval world map, combining spectral capture with careful image processing and scholarly interpretation.
Reused parchment can preserve more than one manuscript’s history. Multispectral imaging of the Codex Climaci Rescriptus helps researchers examine erased Greek and Aramaic writing beneath later Syriac text, with MegaVision supporting a subsequent imaging campaign at the Museum of the Bible.
Beneath the visible pages of Codex Zacynthius lies an earlier manuscript of Luke’s Gospel and its commentary. Multispectral capture with MegaVision’s E7 camera helped researchers examine this erased writing, bringing images, transcription, and translation together in Cambridge Digital Library.
