Photoshoot 3.0 software now allows the saving of images in a contact sheet directly to disk, in a fashion that is essentially transparent to the shooter. This allows the security of shooting to buffer without the liability of losing a session due to a computer crash. These image saves are not named and do not reside in a traditional session. These images reside in a special session that can be recalled if the computer crashes using the File>Open Session Copy command after selecting the Camera mode.
Save Session Copy is a feature that saves each individual image in a buffer, to the hard disk drive. This save takes place rapidly because the file save contains no gain or dark correction. The maximum number of images in a Session Copy is limited to the number of images you allow by selecting a specific ram allocation for Photoshoot in the Mac OS File>Get Info>Memory dialog. The Session Copy automatically manages itself by deleting any or all images in a session if you save a named session. Note that the volume you select to hold Session Copy resident will always stay the same size (to check this, view the selected volume by list to see the file size) regardless of how many images are in the copy. Photoshoot designates this session size and keeps it constant. If you have partitioned your hard drive with a PS Scratch volume you might consider using this volume for selection when choosing where to place the Session Copy.
The File>Open Session Copy command will become active only when in Camera mode. If your computer does crash, or if Photoshoot unexpectedly crashes; you can resurrect the images in the buffer when the crash occurred. Restart the computer, restart Photoshoot, and enter Camera. Open the Session Copy using the File>Open Session Copy command. Once the Session Copy opens, immediately name and save the session. This named session save will be accompanied by a proper dark and gain correct for each image in the session.
