When using firewire on the MAC, PhotoShoot 3.6.2
would be the preferable choice of application software. PhotoShoot
3.6.2 and PhotoShoot 3.6.2+ are identical in functionality with
the only difference being that PhotoShoot 3.6.2+ supports the 6phase
Omni board, while PhotoShoot 3.6.2 supports the 8phase. Thus the
+ version of the software would only be required when using a 6phase
Omni board. PhotoShoot 3.6.2 and PhotoShoot 3.6.2+ support the Hotlink
Firewire 1.1 and 1.2, but not earlier versions.
On the PC, PhotoShootPC can be used with Hotlink Firewire 1.1 and
1.2 when using that method of connecting to the camera. For PCI
card connectivity, PhotoShootPC supports the 6phase Omni boards
only. The Omni+ is used for camera backs S2, S3 and S4; the Omni242
for the S242.
Hotlink Firewire 1.1 and 1.2 can be used both on the MAC and the
PC.
The Omni+ (6phase) board includes a clock hold-off that automatically
adjusts to the speed of the computer's PCI-to-memory transfer speed.
On computers with slow PCI-to-memory transfer speeds, the Omni+
board will reduce transfer rates to eliminate image corruption.
On computers where no delays occur in the transfer of data from
the PCI bus to memory, capture speed may increase by 25% compared
to the 8phase Omni board.
