The MegaVision E/Z  Series of digital backs are the industry's first film-equivalent resolution digital backs designed explicitly for institutional portrait photography. These digital backs are ideal where image quality, robustness, reliability, ease of use, and life-cycle costs are important considerations. The E Series backs are designed for sustained heavy use where reliability is critical, and where consistent image quality is demanded from one or a fleet of deployed units.

The E Series backs are available for Camerz ZII/ZIII cameras and for most other long rollfilm cameras. No modification to the camera is required. The E/Z back simply replaces the film back. A film back may be readily interchanged with the digital back. E/Z Series backs attach to the camera by means of interchangeable adapter plates, so that an E/Z series back may be interchanged between a ZII and most medium format camera bodies.

E/Z Series backs are available in two resolutions: 6 Megapixel and 11 Megapixel.
The 6 Megapixel E/Z-32 is 3,000 X 2,000 pixels, and the 11Megapixel E/Z-427 is 4,000 X 2,700 pixels.

The image area of both FB models is the same as 35mm film---24mm X 36mm. Since this is smaller than the image area of some ZII film sizes, special focusing masks are supplied to facilitate framing and focusing. Custom head-size masks are also available.

An OLPF (optical low pass filter) is included in the E/Z Series backs to eliminate moiré. E/Z Series backs are also available without the OLPF if additional sharpness is desired.

The E/Z connects directly to a host computer via IEEE 1394 (Firewire) interface. Captured images are immediately available for review in the host computer. Power to the E/Z is normally supplied through the Firewire interface, so only a single cable is required for connection to a computer. TheE/Z Series include auxiliary power input so that laptops (such as OQO's Model 1) which do not supply IEEE 1394 power may be used together with an auxiliary FirePower battery, FirePower SnapPac, or power adapter.

Photoshoot 4software is available for Windows 2000 and Windows XP (both Professional and Home editions). A customized version of MegaVision's PhotoShoot software for capturing school and other institutional pictures is available for end users, and a Software Developers Kit is available for software application developers. MegaVision's software is compatible with bar code scanners and school picture database software to automate such tasks as student ID/image association.

ZII Features
E/Z Series backs may be mounted vertically or horizontally on the ZII, so that landscape as well as portrait images may be captured without rotating the ZII. The E/Z attaches just like a film magazine, though its much lighter weight and smaller size make the task even easier. The same E/Z adapter plate attaches to both vertical and horizontal magazine ZII camera types.

Special focusing masks are supplied and custom masks may be designed to customize the viewfinder to particular shooting requirements. The E/Z takes full advantage of the ZII's many features that have made it the standard of school photography.
